Will you make the cut? Apply to Startup Battlefield & TC Top Picks @ Disrupt SF 2019

Exposure. That’s a key ingredient for early-stage startup success. If you’re hungry for massive exposure — to a global audience, to the media and to tech investors — then be sure to apply to Startup Battlefield at Disrupt San Francisco 2019, which takes place October 2-4.

Startup Battlefield at Disrupt SF is a global phenomenon — a high-stakes pitch competition where roughly 20 of the best early-stage startups compete head-to-head for a $100,000 equity-free cash prize. That’s one heck of an adrenaline shot to your bottom line. But regardless of who wins the money, every participating team shares the bright, potentially life-changing spotlight that is Startup Battlefield. They also become part of the Startup Battlefield alumni community.

Since it debuted in 2007, Startup Battlefield has helped launch 857 companies. This community has gone on to collectively raise $8.8 billion in funding and produce 109 exits. Familiar names like Vurb, Dropbox, Mint, Yammer, TripIt — and many others — launched on a Startup Battlefield stage. You won’t find a better opportunity to showcase your early-stage startup in front of the influential people who can make your startup dreams come true.

Need more convincing? Check out these five reasons to apply for Startup Battlefield, and then go do it.

Both the Battlefield and our TC Top Picks always draw intense interest, media coverage and investor love. Both programs are highly competitive, and TechCrunch editors with a knack for spotting exceptional startups will closely vet each application. And talk about a fabulous ROI — it won’t cost you a thing to apply or to participate in either program. Apply once to be considered for both programs.

Our TC Top Picks program represents the outstanding pre-Series A startups in their respective categories. TechCrunch editors will select up to five startups in each of the following tracks: Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, Biotech/Healthtech, Blockchain, Fintech, Mobility, Privacy/Security, Retail/E-commerce, Robotics/IoT/Hardware, SaaS and Social Impact/Education.

Top Pick designees receive a free Startup Alley Exhibitor Package and a prime location in Startup Alley, our exhibition floor featuring hundreds of early-stage startups. They also get a three-minute interview with a TechCrunch editor on the Showcase Stage, and we’ll shoot, edit and promote that interview across our social media platforms. Did we mention invitations to VIP events? Talk about exposure. More than 10,000 attendees — including tech media and investors — will explore Startup Alley, and the spotlight shines brightly on TC Top Picks.

Exposure, media coverage and funding — you’ll find all three ingredients at Disrupt San Francisco 2019 on October 2-4. Can you hit the trifecta? Improve your odds for success and apply to Startup Battlefield and TC Top Picks today.

Calling all countries: Bring your best startups to exhibit at Disrupt SF 2019

Creativity knows no geographical borders, which is why we’re inviting countries from around the globe to bring their very best early-stage tech startups to Disrupt San Francisco 2019 on October 2-4. Join more than 1,000 startups and exhibit your country or region’s innovative tech, talent and expertise in Startup Alley — in your own country pavilion.

Organizing a sponsored pavilion in Startup Alley is an opportunity for your country or region to step onto the international stage, showcase its emerging companies and be recognized as a leader in tech innovation. Country or regional pavilions can include delegations of international startup groups, government innovation centers, incubators and accelerators.

Startup Alley — the pulsing heartbeat of every Disrupt — is about as prime a piece of real estate as you’ll find in the startup world. More than 10,000 Disrupt attendees will flow through the Alley — including hundreds of media outlets looking for a great story and investors looking for the next big thing. It’s networking nirvana, and the connections you make could place your country on the tech startup map.

One of your startups might even be considered for a Startup Battlefield Wild Card spot. Back in 2017, Recordgram earned the Wild Card spot — and went on to win the Startup Battlefield. Might lightning strike twice?

Here’s how country pavilions work. We offer one-day and three-day sponsor options. When you organize a three-day pavilion, you can bring a minimum of eight startups to exhibit in Startup Alley for all three days of Disrupt, and your logo will be included in Disrupt marketing materials. Each delegation startup receives two Founder passes, and each organizer receives four Innovator passes.

Organizers of a one-day pavilion can bring a minimum of eight startups to exhibit for one day in Startup Alley, and your brand will be included in Disrupt marketing materials (no logo). Each delegation startup receives three Founder passes if the pavilion contract is signed by August 30 — if not, they receive two Founder passes each. Each organizer receives two Innovator passes.

Interested in organizing a pavilion? Shoot us an email at startupalley@techcrunch.com, tell us about your delegation and where you’re from. We’ll provide information about the application process, other organizer perks and pricing. There’s only one caveat, and it’s not hard to meet. Each startup in your delegation must qualify as a Pre-Series A company.

When you’re not busy networking in Startup Alley, you and your delegation members can take in all that Disrupt SF 2019 offers. That includes the Startup Battlefield competition, watching the Hackathon winners present their new products, Q&A sessions and programming with the top names in tech across several different stages and interactive workshops and panel discussions focused on (but not limited to) these categories: Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, Biotech/Healthtech, Blockchain, Fintech, Gaming, Investor Topics, Media, Mobility, Privacy/Security, Retail/E-commerce, Robotics/IoT/Hardware, SaaS, Space, Social Impact & Education.

Disrupt San Francisco 2019 takes place October 2-4 at Moscone North. This is a great opportunity to show the international startup community the creative genius taking place in your country. Contact us today to learn more about organizing a country pavilion.

Dive deep with Q&A Sessions at Disrupt SF 2019

When you hit the ground running at Disrupt San Francisco 2019 — and you will — be sure to save time for a Q&A session. You’re going to hear a bevy of world-class speakers discussing a range of thought-provoking topics on the Main Stage. A Q&A Session is the place where you can continue the discussion from the Main Stage or Extra Crunch Stage — or even raise a new one.

We interrupt this message to remind you to buy your pass to Disrupt SF 2019 and enjoy significant super early-bird savings. We now return you to our regularly scheduled programming.

What’s the difference between Main Stage interviews and Q&A Sessions? So glad you asked. Main Stage events occur in the largest auditorium and are live-streamed on TechCrunch.com around the world. Q&A Sessions are specifically for Disrupt SF attendees to extend the conversation with speakers and take place in a smaller, more intimate space. A TechCrunch editor moderates a panel of experts, and they take questions submitted from the audience. It’s the perfect time to take a deeper dive into a topic or to follow-up on an issue raised during a Main Stage or Extra Crunch Stage presentation.

Main Stage events are recorded, live-streamed and they’re also available later, on demand — not the case with Q&A Sessions. The only way to benefit from the content is to be there in person. Better plan to arrive early if you want a seat. They’re very popular, space is limited and admission is strictly first come, first served.

Q&A Session topics vary and relate to the category tracks featured at Disrupt SF 2019: Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, Biotech/Healthtech, Blockchain, Fintech, Gaming, Investor Topics, Media, Mobility, Privacy/Security, Retail/E-commerce, Robotics/IoT/Hardware, SaaS, Space and Social Impact & Education.

Disrupt SF 2019 packs so much into just three days. Check out the epic $100,000 Startup Battlefield pitch competition. Heck, why not apply to compete this year? Or maybe you want to plant your early-stage startup flag in Startup Alley. Buy a Startup Alley Exhibitor Package or apply to be a TC Top Pick and exhibit in Startup Alley for free.

We’ll have plenty more great programming to share with you soon — new speakers, panels, workshops, sponsored hackathon contests and more.

Disrupt San Francisco 2019 takes place October 2-4. Don’t miss out on the super early-bird savings. Buy your pass now before the price goes up.

Introducing the Extra Crunch Stage at Disrupt SF 2019

Every year we dig deep to make the next TechCrunch Disrupt bigger, bolder and better than before. Disrupt San Francisco 2019, on October 2-4, is no exception. One of the many upgrades we’re proud to announce is the Extra Crunch Stage.

Hold up a second — need a ticket to Disrupt SF 2019? Get one at the super early-bird price before the price increases.

OK, moving on. We’re upgrading last year’s Next Stage to the Extra Crunch Stage — named in honor of TC’s recently launched subscription product. Designed for our most engaged readers, this extra crunchy layer of subscription content goes deep on entrepreneurial and startup topics like inclusion and diversity, hiring practices, legal and product decisions, as well as mental health and wellness in high-performance businesses.

So, how does this translate to the Extra Crunch Stage at Disrupt SF? The programming here will still feature fireside chats and panel discussions focused on topics crucial to founder and investor success. But you can also see and hear plenty of how-to content, and gain practical, actionable insights from the folks who have been out in the trenches getting deals done.

Anyone with an Innovator, Founder or Investor pass can access this delicious insider content found on the Extra Crunch Stage, plus all the speakers, panelists and startup founders who will grace the Main Stage (think Startup Battlefield), the Showcase Stage (in Startup Alley) and the Q&A Stage (where you ask and experts answer).

What else can you expect at Disrupt SF 2019? World-class networking and nearly infinite opportunities. Connecting with people is great — connecting with the right people is even better. Cue CrunchMatch, Disrupt’s free business match-making service, available to all attendees. The platform helps you find and connect with people based on specific mutual criteria, goals and interests. Whether you want to network with founders, investors, technologists, researchers or software engineers, CrunchMatch combines curation and automation to help you make the most of your limited time.

Disrupt SF 2019 takes place October 2-4 at Moscone North Convention Center. Come and experience the new Extra Crunch stage and all the other opportunities, events and connections that could make your startup dreams come true. Those super early-bird tickets won’t last long, so get yours today.

Apply to be a TC Top Pick at Disrupt San Francisco 2019

Savvy early-stage startup founders are making plans to attend our flagship event, Disrupt San Francisco 2019, on October 2-4 at Moscone North. It’s three jam-packed days of connection, inspiration and discovery that you don’t want to miss. But here’s a hot tip for founders who want to wring every drop of opportunity out of their time at Disrupt. Apply to be a TC Top Pick. It’s easy to do, and it’s free.

Earning our TC Top Picks designation is a highly competitive and curated process. TechCrunch editors will thoroughly review each application and select up to five standout startups in each of the following categories: AI/Machine Learning, Biotech/Healthtech, Blockchain, Fintech, Mobility, Privacy/Security, Retail/E-commerce, Robotics/IoT/Hardware, SaaS and Social Impact & Education.

All TC Top Picks receive a free Startup Alley Exhibition package, prime real estate in the Startup Alley exhibition hall and invitations to VIP events. You’ll also be interviewed by a TechCrunch editor on the Showcase stage. The Top Pick startups garner an intense amount of media and investor attention, which can take your business to the next level. But hey, don’t take our word for it. Take it from someone who experienced the value of applying to TC Top Picks firsthand.

Australia-based Sonder Designs earned a TC Top Pick designation at Disrupt SF 2018. The startup designed a keyboard — using E-Ink technology — and the keyboard’s display changes dynamically based on whatever application or language you use.

In five days, three of which included Disrupt, founder Francisco Serra-Martins reports they held 41 meetings with venture capitalists and 11 meetings with B2B customers. The company received more investor interest than it initially forecasted, which led them to increase the investment round size. They’re currently working on due diligence and closing a $2.2 million round.

Top Picks receive a lot of media attention — the gift that keeps on giving — and that invaluable exposure landed Serra-Martins on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list.

“Being a TC Top Pick at Disrupt San Francisco not only helped us close out an additional $1 million investment for our seed round, it was an incredible opportunity to highlight our technology to an international community and to engage with the San Francisco startup ecosystem,” said Serra-Martins.

That’s some serious ROI, amirite? Looking for more ways to get the most out of your Disrupt experience? Want to win $100,00 in equity-free cash? Apply to compete in Startup Battlefield, our epic startup pitch competition.

You have absolutely nothing to lose and everything to gain. Disrupt San Francisco 2019 takes place on October 2-4, and this is your chance to take your startup to a new level. Apply to our TC Top Pick program today.

Student, nonprofit & government discount passes to Disrupt SF 2019

Disrupt San Francisco 2019 takes place October 2-4, and we’re determined to make it financially accessible to as many people in the startup community as possible. One of the ways we do this is by offering deep discounts to students, nonprofit organizations, government employees and military personnel. If you fit any of these categories, you can apply for a discounted Innovator pass right here.

The only thing reduced about your Innovator experience is the price. Your pass provides access to all three days of Disrupt and a full slate of speakers and events. We’re talking all the programming across four stages: The Main Stage, the Extra Crunch Stage, Q&A Sessions and the Showcase Stage.

Watch the Startup Battlefield competition — heck, if you’re the founder of an early-stage startup, you should definitely apply to compete. Participate in interactive workshops, explore hundreds of early-stage startups and sponsor companies in Startup Alley. Make good use of CrunchMatch, Disrupt’s free networking platform that lets you match, schedule and meet people based on mutual business goals and interests.

Other perks include access to the Disrupt Mobile App, an agenda and communication tool that gives you the full conference agenda and ability to message attendees directly. Plus, you’ll get access to exclusive video content after the show wraps. Innovator pass holders also have access to discounted hotel rooms in San Francisco.

Here’s how this discount program works. First, you must apply. If you’re a student currently enrolled in a college or university program, your Innovator pass costs $295 (you save $1,700). Here’s the important fine print: you’ll need a valid student ID, proof of current enrollment or transcripts when you check in at Disrupt SF 2019 registration. If you don’t have a valid ID, you’ll pay the full on-site ticket price ($1,995).

If you work for a nonprofit organization, your Innovator pass costs $495 (you save $1,500). And of course, you have some fine print to read as well. You must provide your employee email address during the registration process. When you check in at the Disrupt SF registration desk, you must provide proof of your organization’s 501(c) 3 designation. If you don’t provide that info, you’ll pay the full on-site ticket price ($1,995).

Now let’s talk about full-time employees of federal, state or local government agencies, active military personnel or employees of international government agencies. Your Innovator pass costs $495 (you save $1,500). And here comes your special fine print: You must provide a valid .gov email address during the online registration process and, when you arrive at the Disrupt SF registration check-in, you must present a valid government identification card. If you don’t, you’ll pay the full on-site ticket price ($1,995).

Two final housekeeping notes: You can’t combine any of these student, nonprofit, government and military discounts with any other discount offers. And, if you’re younger than 21 years old, your access to certain venues, like the After Party, may be restricted.

Disrupt San Francisco 2019 takes place October 2-4, and the supplies of these affordable tickets are limited. Don’t waste any time — apply for your discounted Innovator pass today.
